July 1, 2013    Monday    Day Twenty
Leaving Whitehorse

Thank You Bostjan for putting us up in Whitehorse.

Leaving Whitehorse today.
First we will make a visit to Sid Rock, to say good bye.
This is where Bostjan works and Sid is his boss.

Sid and family, Laurie, Aki, and Haley.
Can't leave out, Chief, the German Shepard.
I wanted to take this old car home for my yard display, but Bob said, "No".

This is the family yard.  I love rocks, too bad they are so heavy.

A bowl of rocks, I love it.

Family cat, "Shadow Boy".  Bostjan's favorite cat.

Shadow Boy's father was a murderous thug, he killed Shadow Boy's brother.
Mon cat and kittens moved to a building and Shadow Boy then moved in with  Sid's family
and has been there ever since.
Leaving Sid Rock we could see the rain ahead!
Boy did it ever rain
Bob wanted to get out of the rain, and he saw a Chinese restaurant.
Our friend Dom reintroduced us t Chinese food, so we stopped for lunch.
I had Egg Foo Yong
Bob said, that the Szechuan Beef he had was the freshest he had ever tasted.

On the road again and the rain has slowed down.

But it doesn't look good ahead, oh well !

Haines Jct.   The Bakery great food and coffee.

We are riding into the clouds

Rain or Shine we will keep on moving

Heading to Destruction Bay
THis is my favorit area.

We stayed the night at Talbot Motel
I know we will have sun tomorrow!
Good night - See you down the road.

June 30,2013 Sunday Day Nineteen BBQ with Bostjan

June 30, 2013   Sunday   Day Nineteen

Bob and I slept in at the Chalet Motel
We stayed in and got caught up with our blog, it was great to have wifi again.

Our friend Bostjan, who is traveling around the world on Jack his BMW 1200 GSA, has been working in Whitehorse,
getting ready for the next leg of his trip to South America.
Bostjan planned this Bar-B-Q as a get together for all his friends.
Bostjan grilling sasages, chicken, and burgers.
Sharon filling a dish, she never misses a meal!

Bob and I were glad that the timing was right for us to be able to be in Whitehorse,
on our way home from out trip.

Laurie and Aki sitting on the swing, mother and daughter,
were two people who I enjoyed meeting. We talked for a long time
and found we had much in common.

I was great getting to meet Bostjan's friends.

The whole group again.  Good conversations and memories.

Jessica did a forward flip
but Bob wasn't fast enough with the camera.
Good job Jessica.

We hope to meet up with Bostjan at his next stop somewhere in South America  as he continues his trip around the world.

Parked on Broadway St. in front of Bits of Broadway Cafe.
Stopped for breakfast and to say good-bye.
Skipper and Nils gave us a brown bag of goodies for the road
Thanks guys, see you down the trail.
Bob talking to tourist that were inspecting the Raven.
On the way out of Skagway.

Traveling on the Yukon Highway.

Going through the Canadian Customs Check

The next pictures are of a lake that had the most perfect mirror image.

On our way to Carcross, Canada in the Yukon Territory.
Rocks piled along the way, used for directions by travelers.
We have seen many on our trip.
Coming into the little town of Carcross
Carcross is a little town that really puts on a show for visitors
The store pictured here is full of old antiques and souvenirs from the Yukon.
They also had great ice cream in the store.
The train from Skagway comes over White Pass and turns around in Carcross.
This gives the tourist a great stop.
When the train comes in it is quite exciting.
Seeing the train takes you back to the Gold Rush Day.
Train coming into the depot
The whole is restored like the old train.
The conductor is also dressed in the old costume.
You can see him on the front of the train talking to the people.
Train in Carcross
Shops and Cafes painted as First Nation People designs.
I really love the designs

I think I need to paint something around my house in Wasilla like these designs.

Like the counter design with the wood end longs

In Whitehorse at the road where Bostjan, our traveler friend, works.

This is where Bostjan works, it is a stone mill, called Sid Rock.
Sid has had this business for about 20 years.
The large pieces of marble were from Prince of Whales Island.
He purchased the marble when he was at the mine at El Capitan about 5 years.
He told us the story of how these pieces are pull out of the ground.
Some of this marble had been used in Anchorage buildings
This book tells all about the minerals on Prince of Whales Island
Pictures of Eagle in a nest in Whitehorse that has a camera on it.
You can watch this Eagle on line on your computer.
